In our first newsletter for 2010, we thought we would include a few tips, a few specials, as well as letting you know what’s happening at your local Donald Buckley store.

For the month of March, we have a great reason for you to hunt out all those used rolls of film that have been lying around your place. So round them up, bring them in to your local Donald Buckley store for processing and we will burn your film to CD for free!

Then you can have the best of both worlds – film and digital. Remember - be quick, this great offer is only valid for March. If you are still using film, there has never been a better time to buy a digital camera than right now.

We have a great deal on the entry level Kodak C140 camera – either by itself or in with a package - giving you everything you need to start shooting digital pictures right now!

If you would like to know how to improve your photos, then our Camera Tuition Classes might just be what you are looking for. Classes are now being organised, starting with Digital 101.

The first class is for those of you who have a compact digital camera and topics include understanding camera settings, flash, and zoom; caring for your camera, memory cards and batteries.

Follow up classes will be held for more advanced users and those of you with SLR cameras. If you are interested, email us requesting a registration form and we will let you know class dates.

Check Your Batteries!

One of the most common questions we are asked is “Why are my batteries not lasting very long?” There are several things to check if you have poor battery performance.

1. The battery may be old and nearing the end of its life, even re chargeable batteries need replacing eventually.

2. The charger may not be delivering a charge to your battery properly – check the contacts are clean and if possible, try charging another battery. If this does not charge, then it is most likely to be the charger.

3. The battery may not be holding a charge and may be faulty. Try charging another battery to check it charges ok. If it does, you know it’s the battery at fault.

4. Make sure you are using either NiMh batteries of at least 1800 mAh in cameras that accept AA batteries or are using a fully charged and not too old Lithium-ion battery.
