Memory Cards
We stock Secure Digital (SD), Compact Flash (CF), Memory Stick (MS) and all variations of xD memory cards.
Memory cards continue to get bigger and bigger in storage capacity, however bigger is only better, up to a point. If you are considering purchasing additional memory cards, think about your picture taking habits and consider the following:-
- Multiple cards that you change frequently, rather than a single large card. Sometimes memory cards can fail (or be lost) and if this were to happen, think about the number of images you stand to lose with a single large card. Smaller cards can make more sense from the “don’t keep all your eggs in one basket” point of view.
- Larger cards however, do allow you to shoot longer without having to download your pictures to a computer frequently – ideal if you are travelling or don’t have access to a computer. If your camera is an older model, many do not have the ‘brain’ to handle the larger cards on the market today, so be careful.
- High speed cards write and transfer data faster. This is especially advantageous if you operate an SLR camera, but not always needed with compact digital cameras.
- There are many brands of digital cards on the market, some vastly inferior to others. If they are cheap, it is usually for quality reasons.
